(IESL) Intensive English As a Second Language
PROGRAM OUTLINE
The purpose of the IESL program is to help the student to build English language and communication skills in a constant interaction with real contexts and communities, and prepare the students for the academic and social communities. This program supports and guides an student’s language and communication needs to integrate into mainstream Canadian society. The program is designed to be flexible, interactive and adaptable. Each course focuses on language acquisition in four skill areas, speaking, listening, reading and writing. Test preparation classes are given to the advanced level students. Learning English with Laughter series will be used as a main curriculum, and additional resources and activities can be developed/adopted and used by the instructor to meet the students’ needs. The main curriculum consists of 4 modules what have 2 parts each. Each part contains 20 lessons listing the new concepts, oral activities, written exercises and group activities.
- Module 1: Beginner (IESL B1, B2)
- Module 2: Advanced Beginner (IESL AB1, AB2)
- Module 3: Intermediate (IESL I1, I2)
- Module 4: Advanced Intermediate (IESL AI1, AI2)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma (or Equivalent) or 19 years old;
- Student under 19 years old with permission from legal guardian.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this program the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- acquire the basic to advanced knowledge of English skills not only to integrate in the real Canadian life but also to understand the lectures, and to pursue the co-op work at Canadian work places;
- take official English test (IELTS) to achieve the successful result.
